LEXPO

LEXPO – Leather Exposition is a process to reach people mainly by developing entrepreneurs through interaction.

ILTA has been organizing LEXPOs to promote and provide marketing facilities to keep pace with the latest design and technology to have better interaction with the domestic buyers of leather goods. This leather trade fair has been organizing by ILTA since 1977 in Kolkata, since 1992 at Siliguri and since 2010 at Durgapur. Other than this three places this trade fair has been organized in other states also like Jharkhand (Ranchi & Jamshedpur), Orissa (Bhubaneswar), Assam (Gwahati), Sikkim (Gangtok).

LEXPO was a total leather exposition in the International level and used to be conducted in star hotels up to year 1981 as Buyer/Seller Meet. Since general public participation in the hotel premises was scanty and as advised by the then Ministry in the year 1982, LEXPO was reoriented to reach out to the domestic market along with the export market and was shifted to the open ground of Kolkata Maidan. Through this measure a direct interaction between the manufacturers and the customers could become possible providing the need of marketing opportunities to the manufacturers and giving them ample encouragement of streamlining their various leather products to the common people. The venue of Kolkata LEXPO has been changed time to time from Maidan to Yuba Bharati Krirangan’ adjacent helipad ground 5 years ago and since 2011 it has been shifted to Park Circus Maidan.

Today LEXPO has become a popular people’s fair. People in and around Kolkata eagerly wait for the arrival of LEXPO and definitely give a visit to it to get the taste of latest leather products with a reasonable price. This large scale popularity has increased the expectation from LEXPO as well as the responsibilities of the organizing committee. We emphasize on customer satisfaction. The visitors / buyers have a very wide range of options to select the products as per their taste and budget.
